Awards: No One Deserves to Die

The “No One Deserves to Die” campaign for Lung Cancer Alliance was designed to challenge the stigma and to start a national conversation around ending the bias associated with lung cancer.

After months of planning, Lung Cancer Alliance and Laughlin Constable’s New York, Milwaukee and Chicago offices launched the “No One Deserves to Die” campaign in June 2012. The campaign ran for approximately one month in 31 markets throughout the United States and included guerilla and out of home marketing, social media, digital and public relations. It was also advertised on screen in movie theaters in various markets.

2013 Bronze Jay Chiat Award

The campaign was awarded a Bronze Jay Chiat Award in the Non-profit category. For more than a decade, the global Jay Chiat Awards have recognized excellence in strategic thinking in marketing and advertising around the world. The award represents one of the highest honors in the advertising and marketing industry.

2013 Bronze Effie Award

The “No One Deserves to Die” campaign was awarded a Bronze Effie Award in the Disease Awareness and Education category. Lung Cancer Alliance was honored to be amongst other winners like AT&T, American Express, IBM, Nike and Johnson & Johnson. Since 1968, winning an Effie Award has become a global symbol of achievement for marketing ideas that work, and represent one of the highest honors in the advertising and marketing industry.

2013 Facebook Studio Finalist

Honored as a finalist in the Facebook Studio Awards competition, the Facebook application integrated the ‘No One Deserves To Die’ theme with the numeric facts about cancer, that 1 in 14 Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer in his or her lifetime. The app randomized who that would be among the person’s Facebook friends, of which only two would survive more than five years.

2013 Webby Award Finalist

A finalist in the Webby Awards, the “No One Deserves to Die” website and campaign was honored to be among Pinterest, Medium, SoundCloud, and HBO Connect in the “Social Media” category.

Additional Awards and Accolades

The “No One Deserves to Die” campaign also received various other accolades: Best of Category – Advocacy/Non-profit Website, Best of Category – Integrated Campaigns, and Best of Category – Broadcast Commercial Video in the Horizon Interactive Awards; Best Advocacy Website in the Internet Advertising Competition; finalist in the Creative Media Awards; and a merit award winner in The One Show.
